Ruby on Christmas fair isle, folded yoke detail Fair Isle Sweater in AlpacaFair Isle Sweater

Remember that fair isle sweater I started eons ago? I gave it to my niece for Christmas, and here’s how it turned out. The yarn is Drops Alpaca, ordered from Nordic Mart. I really enjoyed knitting with this yarn, and practicing colorwork.

I’m proud of the whale hat I made for my daughter. It took months. I’m fairly new at stranded colorwork, having only a pair of Totoro mittens in my repertoire. We went out to Arcadia beach and she kindly modeled it and let me take lots of pictures.

I’m still so new to blogging that I become easily mystified. How is it that sometimes my photographs are grouped in galleries and other times not? I wish I could say I was controlling the process, but alas, I think my blogging is rather like a fill-in-the-blank project right now, and likely more resembling a Mad Lib than an ace exam.

Fair Isle Sweater

This is my first Fair Isle project, a work in progress.

Look what our friends over at Happy Knits are up to. For those of you who are disappointed that our clinic knitting circle can no longer meet at the clinic on Tuesday nights, consider joining the sweater knit along. And for anyone touched by cancer, there’s a Thursday group. Both are free to participate, and the folks at this local yarn shop are super friendly, so don’t be shy!
