I’m still so new to blogging that I become easily mystified. How is it that sometimes my photographs are grouped in galleries and other times not? I wish I could say I was controlling the process, but alas, I think my blogging is rather like a fill-in-the-blank project right now, and likely more resembling a Mad Lib than an ace exam.

My morning walk was inspirational today, with color everywhere, in the most striking combinations. Mother Nature sure knows her color theory.

I can never resist the soft wooly leaves of Lamb’s Ear. Add a few raindrops, and my heart swirls with a giddy happiness, just looking at this.

So pretty, with their color already hinting at next year’s berries.

Our Maple has dropped most of its yellow leaves now. They lie softly at its feet, covering my little car in a natural blanket.

My neighbor’s little pumpkin display is one of the sweetest I’ve seen. I do love the tiniest pumpkins.

I can’t quite bring myself to put away the Halloween candles from the front porch yet. Maybe I’ll just call them Thanksgiving candles now.

I’m working up some flowers out of the loveliest silky Malabrigo yarn. I’m hoping they will become a birthday shawl for my mother, if all goes well in my hodge podge design process.

I used Stork for round one, the inner circle of the flowers.

I love this yarn. I love the label too.

I could play all day at rearranging my floss into different piles.

And some days, I do.

My happy, soothing colors.

These might become flowers too.

Time to let Miko in. It’s started to rain again, and he’s ready to give up his adventures for a cozy lap.

Since today’s sky is gray, I am borrowing yesterday’s sky.

Next year’s garden needs some of these Dahlias.

I find these to be a cheerful shape.

I will conclude our little tour of the neighborhood gardens with this zinnia parade. These beautiful flowers cheer me, for months on end. They are so long-lived, so beautiful and inspirational, seems like they’ve been going strong since July. Perhaps I will work out my own crochet pattern and add some zinnias to my mom’s gift.
I sometimes feel a sense of dread in early November, thinking the sky is about to go flat gray and the color is going to drain away from my world, and the rain will come and never ever stop. But I still see color all around, and the best of November is yet to come. There are the November birthdays to celebrate, along with Thanksgiving. Of course I can’t post any gift plans for GG because she kindly follows my blog, dear girl, so I must maintain a little mystery about what else might be coming out of this color factory.
Show me a peek of the color in your world today?
